Our Journey
In 2016, Chris Cancienne founded Cypress Physical Therapy in LaPlace, LA with the sole desire to bring personal, dedicated treatment to the River Parishes with a focus on sports rehab. From the design of the clinic to the colors of the Cypress logo, our patients can feel the energy embodied in our name, always green and full of life. The goal of every member of the Cypress team is to help our patients on their road to recovery perform better and live better.
In 2017, Cancienne and Cypress’ Managing Partner Buddy Boe, decided to expand Cypress past the town of LaPlace and began partnering with local therapists. Our local partners are what makes Cypress different. As other clinics sell to larger and larger mega-healthcare companies, Cypress remains a local clinic, in practice and reality. Our partners are local. Our staff is local. Our treatment is personal.
In 2022, Cypress opened its first clinic outside Louisiana in Orange, TX. Orange, TX might just be another town in Texas to anyone from outside the area but to Cypress, it’s part of our history. Cypress Physical Therapy’s corporate offices are located on Cypress Street in Lutcher, LA. Lutcher, LA was founded as a cypress lumber company town by the Lutcher family from Orange, TX.
As the Cypress tree keeps growing, we are focused on keeping each clinic local and the treatment personal; because #CypressHeals.

Latin word for Cypress: Cupressus Sempervirens. SemperVirens = Always Green
Cypress encourages us to see the natural transitions within the cycle of life. Cypress signals the end of a major phase in our life and the transition into a world of new possibilities. The cypress tree, Cupressus sempervirens, was seen as the tree of immortality and deathlessness by the Persian prophet Zoroaster.
For centuries, Middle Eastern and European cultures have revered the cypress as a symbol of the transition between life and death, with cypresses symbolizing the uplifting of the human spirit and the possibilities of eternal life.

Christopher Cancienne
Founder / PT / DPTLaPlaceChris is the owner and founder of Cypress Physical Therapy. He obtained his doctorate degree at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center of New Orleans in 2011 and his bachelors degree at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in 2007, where he studied Kinesiology with a focus on human movement.
Dustin Roussel
Partner / PT / DPTGramercyDustin obtained his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at University of St. Augustine for Health and Sciences in Austin, TX in 2015 and his bachelor’s degree at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in 2012, where he studied Kinesiology with a focus on human movement and science.
Jonathan Pecoraro
Partner / PT / DPTHammondJonathan obtained his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans in 2011 and his bachelor’s degree at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in 2008, where he studied Kinesiology with a focus in Human Movement Science. His post-graduate certifications include dry needling and various manual therapy techniques, including spinal manipulation.
Phillip Richard
Partner / PT / DPTOrangePhillip attended Lamar University in Beaumont Texas, graduated in 2012, studied Exercise science and Fitness Management. Attended University of St. Augustine for Health and Sciences in Austin for Doctorate in Physical Therapy, graduated in 2015.
Patrick Hennessey
Partner / PT / DPTLulingPatrick obtained his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at LSU Health and Science Center New Orleans in 2016 and his bachelor's degree at Louisiana State University in 2013, where he studied Kinesiology with a focus in Human Movement.
